In 1989 Ron and Mechelle Yates opened their retail store, California Coin & Jewelry in Modesto, CA. The store bought and sold fine jewelry and rare coins from private individuals, estates and others. The vast majority of the pre-owned (we call it pre-loved) jewelry that was purchased from the public was resold to jewelry wholesalers and other local retailers. After several years, the focus of the business was changed to service the needs of our growing customer base. Instead of selling our estate jewelry primarily to other jewelry stores we now offered the savings on the fine jewelry and diamonds to our own customers first. The name was changed to Yates & Co Jewelers, Inc.In 2002 we opened our first e-commerce jewelry website, www.Titanium-Jewelry.com. This website specializes in modern jewelry made of contemporary metals such as titanium rings, tungsten rings, palladium rings and wedding bands. Titanium-Jewelry.com is an industry leader and innovator in it's niche, and services customers from all 50 states and most countries in the world. Mechelle Yates is a Graduate Gemologist, G.I.A. (Gemological Institute of America) and a member of the American Society of Jewelry Appraisers.
Scott Mackey is a Diamonds Graduate and Accredited Jewelry Professional, G.I.A.

These days Ron Yates devotes most of his time to designing new jewelry under the J.R. YATES brand and directing the e-commerce activities.
