A Tide Pool, a Shell, and a Ring: Sophia & Richard’s Proposal Story

They met as teenagers—just 15 and 16 years old. For for Sophia and Richard, love wasn’t just a feeling; it was something they grew into together. Through every challenge, every disagreement, they held onto patience, empathy, and forgiveness. As Sophia beautifully puts it, “We have an acknowledgment between each other, that what we do for each other and ourselves, don’t go unnoticed or unappreciated.”

From young love to adulthood, they never lost sight of what they had—and what they wanted to build together. 

That’s why Richard knew the proposal had to be meaningful. He chose one of their favorite places: the tide pools in Monterey, California, where they’ve shared countless quiet moments searching for shells. On that special day, as they wandered the shore like they always do, Richard called Sophia over to see a shell he had "found." Inside was a sparkling surprise—her dream engagement ring. 

The ring itself was just as thoughtful as the proposal. A stunning 14k yellow gold setting, the band gently swirls with a graceful, organic design that mirrors the flow of the ocean tides they love so much. It features two pear-shaped diamonds—one larger, one smaller—symbolizing their growth together from young love into a deeper, lasting bond. The asymmetry is subtle and elegant, perfectly capturing the uniqueness of their journey and the balance they’ve always shared. 

As Richard dropped to one knee, he gave a heartfelt speech that captured their journey from teenagers to soulmates, ending with the question that would change everything: “Will you take this next step with me—to our 'Always and Forever’?”

As Sophia said “yes,” she turned around to find another surprise—both of their families had been there the whole time, quietly watching from a distance. The celebration didn’t stop there. That same afternoon, Richard had coordinated a surprise engagement party back home with all of their closest friends. Every detail was thoughtfully planned—because when you’ve found the love of your life, you want the whole world to be part of it.
