For Mekenna and her fiancé, it all started at a line dancing class in Turlock. After a few weeks as dance partners, their rhythm extended beyond the dance floor and into real life. Their first official date? Bowling.

But when they arrived, they were told there was a three-hour wait. What could’ve been a disappointing night quickly turned into something special. They grabbed a table, sat, talked, and laughed the time away—realizing something important: they didn’t need big plans to have a good time. Being together was enough.

Fast forward to their trip to Canmore, Canada, where a proposal was in the works—but pulling it off took some serious creativity. Hiding the ring through airport security and sharing luggage was already a challenge. Add to that: no hidden photographer to capture the big moment. But he had a plan.

He told Mekenna he wanted to fly his drone for some scenic photos of the two of them. What she didn’t know? The drone was secretly recording the whole thing—including the moment he got down on one knee and opened a box containing a yellow gold ring with a stunning emerald-cut diamond, flanked by green sapphires.

The mountains. The love. The surprise. It was all perfect.
