Titanium Jewelry

We have been titanium jewelry experts since 2002. We have over 85,000 (happy!) customers from around the world who purchased some form of titanium jewelry from us. Ron Yates saw the demand for titanium rings, wedding bands and other types of titanium jewelry. So he opened up the niche website, www.Titanium-Jewelry.com, which was one of the first jewelry sites specializing in space-age titanium.

Why titanium?
The main reason folks choose titanium is that it is hypo-allergenic and biocompatible. Many people are allergic to the alloys in silver and gold, as well as other metals like stainless steel. So titanium is the perfect choice for these people. Titanium is used inside the body for many purposes: heart stints, joint replacements and more. The body has no reactions to titanium.

What is titanium?
Titanium is a naturally occurring element (Ti, atomic number 22). It is a gray color. Titanium is incredibly strong - much much stronger than steel. And it is very lightweight, you will hardly feel it when wearing titanium. When we say strong, we don't mean that it won't scratch. Titanium does scratch, though not as easy as gold, silver or platinum. But you will never bend a titanium ring and it will never break. (Unlike tungsten rings - they are scratch resistant but break and crack.)

What is black titanium?
There is an alloy, called Black Ti, that contains zirconium. And when heated the surface of the titanium oxidizes or turns black-ish. This is similar to a porcelain shell. It hardens and makes it more scratch resistant while being an attractive smokey black color.
