This 100-year old piece has a fascinating history.  We purchased it as a bar type pin/broach.  It was in near perfect condition.  But, ladies don't wear pins nowadays like they did in the early 1900s  (although they are making a slight comeback).  So after having the pin in our inventory for a couple of years, we decided to turn into a piece of jewelry that more ladies would enjoy - a pendant.

The emerald in the center is natural, Columbian type.  It has excellent clarity and a pretty velvety color.  It is emerald cut, (the classic cut for emerald gemstones.)  It measures 4.45  x 4.58mm, and by formula is estimate to weigh .40ct.

The green emerald is surrounded by Old Mine Cut diamonds.  Old Mine Cut diamonds were cut from the 1800s through the early 1900s.  They are characterized by their pillow shape.  Take a look at them.  Do you see their unique shape?  Just lovely.  This was an early example of a diamond halo, which is so popular today.  (Most designs today use small diamonds, we like this larger size!) The total carat weight of the diamonds is about .40ctw - .50ctw.

Surrounding a colored gemstone with diamonds is like adding a matt border around a picture.  It accentuates it and compliments the colored stone.

Take a look at the pictures and videos to see the transformation of this piece.  Fascinating!

Sold as pendant, chain not included. You can add a chain for $225 (18" 1mm cable chain 14k yellow gold) - or contact us for other chain options.
