Look at the shape - do you notice the old time shape on the ends? And the indented side towards the top? Look at the border that goes around the entire piece. All done by hand.
Another really cool thing about our clip is that the owner's initials are engraved on the back. Take a minute and look at the reverse side. Isn't this cool? What an heirloom piece.
The coin is a genuine U.S. $5 Indian Head gold coin. An interesting fact about this coin (and also the smaller $2.50 Indian Head gold coin) is that it is the only U.S. coin design that features an "incused" design. That is the design is cut into the coin, not raised up. The date on the coin will be from 1908 - 1915, or 1925 - 1929. The coin was legal tender (still is) for $5.00. It is 18mm diameter, about the size of a U.S. nickel. The coin is 90% pure gold.
