Some experts say Woolly Mammoths roamed the earth 15,000 years ago! I wasn't there, so I'm not sure about that. BUT, they've been gone a long time now.
This knife is made from genuine Woolley Mammoth Tooth. Incredible really to think about that. The material fossilized over the years and is now in your knife. This knife is 3" closed with a 2 1/4" blade.
The blade is made of Damascus Steel, which is a centuries-old method of sword making from Damascus, Syria. Using many layers of two types of steel to create interesting patterns. After the blade is made, it goes through an Acid treatment. This attacks the softer steel thus releasing the fascinating and unique pattern.
About the Damascus Steel : The damascus steel blade is solid, NOT laminated as some of the cheap knives are. The blade is made from VG10 Core and SUS410 high carbon stainless steel. The layers are folded over 33 times to create the cool pattern.
Mammoth fossils are 150,000+ year old natural material so patterns and colors vary on each knife, no two are the same! These photos are representations of the material, actual products will vary in color and patterns.
