Delicate, refined, and unmistakably romantic, the Sabine ring is a beautiful expression of early vintage craftsmanship. Hand crafted in 18K white gold during the early 1900s.   At the heart of this beautiful ring is a GIA graded 1.20 ct Old European Cut diamond — not a modern reproduction, but a genuine antique diamond with the soft, romantic fire collectors look for.  The diamond is graded as J-K color (typical of diamonds mined at this time, due to the mine locations) and SI1-SI2 clarity.

Notice the intricate filigree work and delicate milgrain detailing, both classic characteristics of finely made engagement rings from the early 1900s.

Framing the center stone are vivid emeralds accents that lend a subtle pop of rich green color.  As was often the case, the emeralds are synthetic.  The reason synthetics were used most of the time for the accent stones, was that these needed to be cut precisely to fit into the small metal channels, and natural stones would often chip at their fracture points (emeralds from the earth have lots of fracture points).  The synthetics were made in flawless blocks - and could be cut without breaking.  Plus, the colors would all match perfectly.

The ring is stamped Belais 18K.  Belais is a jewelry manufacturer from the early 1900s who invented the commercial use of white gold.  David Belais patented a durable 18K white gold alloy that looked identical to platinum.  In the early years, white gold was originally known as "Belais metal".   Interesting!
